The Early Childhood and Elementary School Counselor at BPS is an integral member of the educational leadership team whose role is to provide valuable assistance to the learners. The services of the elementary school counselor align with the BPS’s vision, mission and principles to create a safe and respectful environment and support all learners to attain the best of their potentials. The counselor addresses the academic, social, and emotional needs of the learners, and acts as a bridge between teachers, parents and the community to equip every learner with the tools to succeed in school. By providing early identification, prevention and intervention, the school counselor addresses the unique needs of our learners to achieve academic success, build their self-esteem, develop better interpersonal skills with peers, parents and teachers, develop positive feelings about academic work, school environment, family and society in response to issues they may encounter.

The counselor can meet with learners individually, in small groups, in the classroom setting and in informal settings such as the playground or canteen.
